The Mounds creates a sense of focus and a distinct sense of topography on campus. This campus centerpiece reflects a secure point where all can gather for outdoor activities or just for pleasant camaraderie.

Trees were planted early on and now provide pleasant shade. Students relax and study on The Mounds, individually or in small groups. A tradition of colorful hammocks hanging from the trees has also taken hold through the years.
